Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth User's Guide
Supported Personal Information Managers
Supported Personal Information Managers (PIMs) are only available as a menu option in the Bluetooth configuration panel if they are installed on your computer.
All data exchanged over the Bluetooth connection is encrypted. Depending on other configuration options, authorization may also be required. A passkey or link key is required each time a connection is attempted.
A passkey is an alphanumeric string continuing up to 16 characters. Passkeys are also called Personal Identification Numbers, or PIN codes. A passkey may be required if the Secure Connection option is enabled for a Bluetooth service or program.
Before connecting to a remote device, the local device must get the remote device's attention. The device does this by paging the remote device.
Since the remote device usually is not expecting a page from any particular device, it must examine or scan all pages that it intercepts, to determine whether they are addressed to it.
Bluetooth enters the Page Scan mode when any of the Allow options (other than No devices to connect) are selected in the Bluetooth Configuration panel's Accessibility tab.
A Link Key is a unique, internally generated, access code based on a combination of a Passkey, the Bluetooth Device Address, and an internally generated random number. Link Keys are generated automatically when devices Pair.
After a Link Key is generated, manual entry of the Passkey is not required.
