The Wireless Station Adapter is an IEEE 802.11B compliant wireless LAN adapter which can be used via a wired ethernet adapter. It fully supports wireless networking in Infrastructure mode under Windows 98, ME, 2000 & XP with a maximum transfer rate of 11Mbps.

Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) systems offer a great number of advantages over  traditional wired systems. Wireless LAN's (WLAN's) are more flexible, easier to manage and often more cost effective then their wired equivalence.

Using radio frequency (RF) technology, WLAN's transmit and receive data over the air, minimizing the need for wired connections. Thus, WLAN's combine data connectivity with user mobility and through simplified configuration enable moveable LAN's.

The Wireless Station Adapter only functions in combination with Access Points. This type of connection is called Infrastructure. A direct connection between the Wireless Station Adapter and another wireless adapter (Ad-Hoc/Peer to Peer) is not possible.
